Castonia
Capt. Ryan Castonia

After commissioning in 2010, Capt Castonia attended the Defense Language Institute where he studied Modern Standard Arabic. He then began the rigorous Combat Rescue Officer training pipeline, graduating in May 2013. Capt Castonia is qualified in multiple aircraft as a non-rated officer aircrew member and maintains qualifications as a military diver, freefall parachutist, and static-line parachutist. His job is to lead small teams as a direct combatant team commander in combat search and rescue, land and water recovery operations, assisted evasion, and reintegration operations in all environments, day or night, under all threat conditions.

Following graduation, 1st Lt Adam Fuhrmann attended Undergraduate Pilot Training at Columbus AFB, MS and was selected for F-16 training. He will be going on to fly the F-16CJ. 

"Detachment 365 is an outstanding unit and they prepared me very well to succeed in the competitive ROTC world as well as on active duty. Det 365 was a crucial starting place on my journey to reach my goal of being a fighter pilot and I am extremely grateful for their dedication and professionalism.

After commissioning in 2012, Capt Nathan attended a month-long immersion to Costa Rica as part of the Language Enabled Airman Program (LEAP) before starting pilot training at Columbus AFB, MS. He was then assigned to fly the MC-12W ISR platform out of Beale AFB, California and deployed twice, in 2013 and 2014, to Afghanistan, where he accumulated 850 combat flying hours in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
